The highlight of the meet for St. Olaf came from Elizabeth Ghandour 06 in the pole vault. Ghandour placed third in the highly competitive event with a clearance of 10 feet 10 and 3/4 inches. Her vault also qualified her provisionally for the NCAA Division III Nationals, which will be held March 11-12 in Bloomington, Ill.
Also contributing to the Oles final score was Lindsey Boetcher 06 in the 5000 meter run.
Boetcher, seeded sixth going into the competition, came in fifth with a time of 18:24.69.
Also turning in sixth place finishes were Kaia Knutson 07 in the pentathlon with a score of 2,616; Marla Nelson 06 in the pole vault with a height of ten feet six and 3/4 inches; Stacy Griffin 07 in the shot put with a distance of 38 feet; and Allison Erlander 07 in the 400 meter dash with a time of 61.09 seconds.
Andrea Gelle 07 came in eighth in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:23.55. The St. Olaf 800 meter relay team of Knutson, Rebecca Trombley 07, Melissa Botzet 05 and Erlander also finished sixth, in 1:51.52.
The Ole 4x400 meter relay, which consisted of Gelle, Erlander, Botzet and Trombley, finished sixth with a time of 4:06.59.
Although the team failed to place highly in last weekends Championships, the disappointing finish does not overshadow the teams solid winter season.
With the outdoor track and field season set to begin later this month, the team has plenty to look forward to.
