After going over three weeks without notching a victory, the St. Olaf women’'s soccer team is currently on a bona fide roll.

The Oles recorded their third straight win on Saturday afternoon, defeating Gustavus 2-0 at Rolf Mellby Field.

St. Olaf scored both of their goals in the first period.

Katie Bierlein '‘07 found the net 8:15 into the game, while Jenny Wetzig '‘08 scored her goal in the 44th minute. It was Wetzig’'s first score of the season and Bierlein'’s fourth.

Kelsey Watt '‘06 currently leads the team with six goals (13 points overall) on the season.

With the victory, St. Olaf improved their overall record to 4-6-1 and 2-3-0 in the conference.

They currently sit in seventh place in the MIAC, six points behind conference-leaders Concordia and St. Ben’'s, both of whom are undefeated with records of 5-0-0.

Despite the team’'s slow start, they feature several athletes among the league leaders in several statistical categories.

Bierlein leads the MIAC with 53 shots on goal and is second in shots per game (4.82).

Watt, an All-MIAC honoree last seasons, is tied for 10th in the league in points (13) and is seventh in goals scored.

The Oles’ next contest will take place this Saturday, when they play host to the College of St. Catherine. The action gets underway at 1 p.m.
