Head coach Dave Hauck knows that depth will be a key component to his teams' success this winter.
"We were really pleased to see that both teams have very good depth, especially on the women's side," Hauck said. "What weve seen so far this year has been very encouraging."
The Ole women, who have already defeated conference rival Gustavus in their first dual meet of the young season, return a number of outstanding swimmers. Kelly Dolan '07, who won three events in Friday's convincing victory over the Gusties, appears poised for a breakout season. Seniors Katie Blum, Emily Love and Carly Knoell also figure to be key contributors as the Oles pursue their second-consecutive conference title.
On the diving side, St. Olaf should benefit greatly from the addition of University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill transfer Kirsten Ytterbo '08. Yterbo was one of the Division-I Tar Heels' top diver last season and is a three-time Minnesota state champion.
"Diving will be a key strength for us this year," Hauck said.
St. Olaf has already participated in two meets this season and will swim in the University of Minnesota Invitational this weekend.
