Alpine, nordic stay on course

Both the St. Olaf alpine and nordic skiing teams have performed up to expectations this season. The men'’s and women’'s nordic teams were ranked first in the annual United States Ski and Snowboard Association preseason poll, with the alpine women ranked eigth.

On Feb. 11-12, the Oles competed in the Minnesota College Nordic Ski Championships.

The Ole women placed second, led by Linn Dale ‘'07 who finished with a time of 0:38.06.

On the men’'s side, the Oles finished first, propelled by Karl Nygren '‘09 and Oliver Garrison '‘08 who finished first and second in the race.

On Feb. 18-19, both teams raced in the CCSA Regional Championships. The men finished fifth, while the women managed sixth.

The alpine men won the Great Lakes Divisional club crown Feb. 11-12. The women took first in the first in the slalom and fifth in the giant slalom.

On Feb. 18-19, both teams also placed first at the Regional Championships held in Marquette, Mich.

Both alpine squads are primed for the National Championships, held in Sugarloaf, Maine, March 6-12.
