Todd Nichol ‘74, King Olav V Professor of Scandinavian-American studies, was recently awarded the rank of Officer by the Council of the Royal Norwegian Order of Merit.

Nichol was informed about the honor last month.

“It is an incredible honor,” Nichol said about the award.

On March 16, Nichol attended a ceremony at the home of Norwegian Consul Rolf Willy Hansen, where the award was officially presented.

Nichol’s work focuses on the history of Norwegian America and the relations between America and Norway.

“I enjoy working with many others to build bridges between the two countries,” Nichol said, stressing the collaborative nature of his work.
