Unlike Tiger, they were disappointed with their result.
In the tournament played last weekend at Bunker Hills Golf Course in Coon Rapids, Minn., sophomore Mack Traynor led the Oles with a 15th place individual finish.
Co-captain Brian DeLaitsch 07 finished 21st overall in the three-day tourney. The team improved its score each day, though St. Johns took the MIAC title.
We definitely left plenty of strokes out on the course, Traynor said.
However, the team looks forward to continuing their improvement.
Our team scores have been steadily improving for two years now and we are looking forward to continuing that trend, Traynor said. The rest of the season should be no different. We expect to improve each tournament and to reach our full potential.
The MIAC tournament represented clear progress, as the team had finished ninth the previous two years. Head coach Glen Peterson is now in his second year at the helm.
The Ole mens team has two tournaments remaining in the fall season, including a round next Monday at Hazeltine National, host of the 2009 PGA Championship.
As for the womens team, they will compete in the MIAC championships this weekend, also at Bunker Hills.
