The Oles were led by Andrea Gelle '07, who placed second in the 800, third in the 600 and ran the final stretch of the fourth place 4x400 relay team.
"I was a little disappointed to get passed in the last 10 meters of the 600, but I'm please with my personal performance," Gelle said.
Stacy Griffin '07 placed second in the weight throw. Griffin will represent St. Olaf at the National meet, held in Indiana this weekend. Erin Weier '07 took third place in the mile, and Jenna Carlson '09 took third place in the 3,000 and fifth place in the 5,000.
Both the 4x400 relay team and distance medley team finished fourth. The 4x400 consisted of Kathryn Thompson '10, Sheryl West '08, Lindsey Saunders '08 and Gelle. Weier, West, Karrin Pearson '07 and Carlson ran the distance medley.
"Several team members had their best season and lifetime performances," Gelle said. "The meet began with some great efforts that created the momentum that carried us through to the finish."
St. Thomas captured their eighth consecutive indoor title, finishing ahead of Bethel, Carleton, Macalester and St. Olaf.
A challenge to the indoor season is that many runners choose to study abroad during interim. When various runners return, it is difficult for them to jump into a season already partially completed, especially in a sport like track where consistency is crucial.
Now that the indoor season is wrapped up, the women look forward to an eventful outdoor season this spring.
"We couldn't have asked for a better conference meet to conclude the indoor season," Gelle said. "It's a perfect position to be in heading into the outdoor season."
