"We have some awesome senior leadership," Daymont said. "We had really great momentum during the indoor season, and we just really want to transfer that to the outdoor season."
Key returners include Andrea Gelle '07 in middle distance, Stacy Griffin '07 as a thrower and two distance runners, Erin Weier '07 and Britt Schwager '07.
"We're expecting [Weier and Schwager] to lead on distances in track," Daymont said.
Gelle was the team MVP during the indoor season. She placed second in the 800 and third in the 600 at the indoor MIACs and supercharged the team during the meet, according to Daymont.
Griffin was a national indoor disc throw qualifier, and also throws shotput and hammer.
Another athlete to watch this season is Jenna Carlson '09. The team's top distance runner, she can be counted on to score during conference meets.
"We're hoping she'll do the same for the outdoor season as well," Daymont said of Carlson.
Katja Andressen '08 is a multi-event participant, and Sheryl West '08 is a sprinter and will be heading the relay teams and participating in short sprints.
Key first-years include Kathryn Thompson in sprints with West, Abby Smith in middle distance, and Michaela McLaughlin in distance.
Last year, the team finished eight of 12 teams at the outdoor MIACs at Carleton College.
"We have a great group of kids this year," Daymont said. "Our success will be helping each other become better, and we're hoping to transition our indoor season to the outdoor."
