A veteran cast of returning athletes will lead the St. Olaf men’'s golf team as they enter the spring half of their season. This year, the men will participate in six spring tournaments, after competing in seven during the fall months of September and October of last year.

Losing just one senior from a year ago, it will be a cast of seniors, juniors and a key sophomore that will hit the links for the Oles this spring. Mack Traynor ‘'09 finished 15th overall at last fall’'s MIAC Championships, aided by three sub-80 scores. Brian DeLaitsch ‘'07, a senior captain this year, also posted a sub-80 trifecta and finished 21st.

Other athletes that should contribute include Carl Fraley '‘08, Bror Herrick ‘'09, Bob Hunter '‘08 and Tucker Weisman '‘08.

“"The fall season went pretty good, and we finished higher [sixth] than we had in my previous three years,"” DeLaitsch said. “"We’'ve got a pretty good schedule this spring. Normally, we’'ve only got about three tournaments in the spring, but this year we have six."”

The team'’s first spring action will take place April 5-6 in Waverly, Iowa as St. Olaf competes in the Wartburg Invitational.
