It was great to see the article by Tim Rehborg on the Cherokee Nation tribal enrollment vote in the March 16 Messenger (“Tribe members limited”). Like most of the coverage of the issue, however, it was too simplistic and in many ways misrepresented the Cherokee point of view. I encourage readers interested in this issue to check out the article “Cherokees Vote for Indian Blood,” by Cherokee Nation in Oklahoma Principal Chief Chad Smith, in the March 14 edition of Indian Country Today (www.indiancountry.com).
