"Conditions were perfect so it was really nice to get out," head coach Luke Benoit said.
Emily Knutson '07 played the best round of her college career with a score of 84. Despite the exceptional performance, Knutson admitted to having a headache that day and not being able to focus.
Before the invitational, the team was able to get in a few rounds, and for some of the team members, it was their first full 18.
This weekend, the team will travel to Becker, Minn. for the state competition. The spring season for college golf is much shorter and will be over after this weekend.
"It'll be a good week to practice and a good week for golf. Hopefully we'll make a good move up in the rankings," Knutson said.
Benoit is finishing his first season with the team, after starting in fall. The team ended the fall season at sixth in the MIAC. Benoit said the team is still in a stage of developing the program. There are a couple of new players on the team, with help from a few hockey players.
It's a growing process, and we're all learning, said Benoit.
Benoit is trying to get good recruits for next year and to develop a consistent practice schedule.
The strength of team is good attitude. I'm really impressed with their attitude.
With the beginning of the season delayed because of weatherr, the late snow fall cut out a week of practice for the team.
It's hard to prepare indoors, but we do try said Benoit.
