St. Olaf was paced by Johnson's 85. Lizzy Zahn '10 shot 90 to finish in a tie for 28th, while Britta Hendrickson '09 and Emily Segar '09 each tied for 32nd with 91.
The tournament ran for only one day, placing obvious importance on each individual hole.
Calculating the scores of the Oles' top four players, the team shot 357 (+69). Zahn said that the ultimate goal is to improve their MIAC standing.
Last year they finished sixth in the conference tournament, improving their score with each day.
"I feel like we have a lot of potential, and we didn't quite live up to that this weekend. But in future tournaments, we hope to continue our progress," Zahn said.
Coached by Luke Benoit, the women resume play this Saturday and Sunday with the Midwest Fall Classic in Hudson, Wis.
In their first tournament of the season, the women placed 12th of 14 teams at the Wartburg Invite, playing against many of the same schools as at Luther. Their fall season ends with the MIAC Championships Oct. 6-8.
