Pritchard was released from intensive care on April 26 and has been listed in serious condition ever since. Despite his injuries, Pritchard is fully alert and has regained his sense of humor.
"We are very encouraged by the progress that Tom is making in his recovery and we hope that he is able to return to the St. Olaf community soon," said Dean of Student Life Greg Kneser.
The Pritchard family expressed gratefulness to the St. Olaf students and staff for their prayers and thoughtful letters. When Pritchard was given the card signed by students and staff, he became emotional. Family members said that since being presented with the card they have seen a positive impact on Pritchard's recovery.
Just as the St. Olaf community's thoughts are with Pritchard in his recovery, Pritchard's thoughts are with members of the St. Olaf community. Pritchard remarked to family members about his sadness over having missed a student's recital.
The administration is hopeful that departing seniors will be able to say their good-byes to Pritchard prior to commencement.
