The women's tennis team is hoping that youth will be served this year as they enter the final third of their schedule. "We are an extremely young team," Coach Scott Nesbit said. "We only have three returning players from last year's playoff team. Then we have our six first-year players."

Ellen Goerss '09 is the senior member of the team and will guide a promising group of first year players that includes Abigail Ho and Ida Holdahl, who have already made important contributions this year. Ho in particular has performed very well out of the first singles spot this year. Also anchoring the inexperienced squad with Goerss are fellow returnees Sarah Carlson '10 and Aimee Ny '10.

After starting of the season with tough losses to Macalester and Luther College, the Ole women rebounded nicely with strong 8-1 wins at Carleton and at their indoor home court in Owatonna against Concordia.

Although they are somewhat untested, the younger players have shown considerable promise and look ready to rise to rise to the challenge of gaining a playoff birth at the end of April. They'll have ample opportunities to prove themselves against solid MIAC competition in the coming weeks, with home matches against Bethel, St. Mary's, and Gustavus, which is undefeated in conference play this year.
