Rumor Has It: The Homecoming theme was chosen because of Steve Irwin's death

Many students thought that this years Australian Homecoming theme, Oles Down Under, was chosen after the recent death of conservationist and animal enthusiast Steve Irwin.
This rumor is false.
Members of the Student Activities Committee and the organizers of Ole Traditions chose the theme last spring and have been preparing for this weeks events for months. Irwins death was in no way related to the choice of an Australian theme.
Members of SAC do not want anyone to think that the theme was meant to belittle Irwins work.
We dont want people to think that were mocking him, SAC Coordinator Nicole Strenglis 07 said.
