Dean Kneser dispelled the rumor, stating that drug searches only occur in relation to a specific incident. St. Olaf does not do drug "sweeps" as some high schools do.
According to the student handbook, "St. Olaf prohibits the unlawful possession, distribution or use of illicit drugs and/or controlled substances on any property owned by the college or in any program or activity sponsored by the college in any location."
Any person caught selling or distributing illegal drugs is subject to immediate dismissal from the college. Anyone who uses illegal drugs or owns drug paraphernalia is referred to the Counseling Center and is subject to disciplinary action that may include dismissal.
