-Promote awareness of the social injustice resulting from current marijuana laws. -Build support for ending the criminal prohibition of marijuana and the arrest of marijuana smokers. -Support State efforts to legalize medical marijuana. -Lobby local, state and federal officials in support of medical marijuana legislation. -Educate the public about the medicinal/medical benefits of marijuana, the recreational use of marijuana, and the many uses of industrial hemp. “Move public opinion sufficiently to achieve the repeal of marijuana prohibition so that the responsible use of cannabis by adults is no longer subject to penalty.” -NORML mission statement
